BLACK CREATIVITY PROGRAM: Through Feb. 28, 2007

Since 1971, the Museum's annual Black Creativity celebration has highlighted the achievements of African Americans and encouraged deeper interest in black culture and heritage. This year, the Museum's annual Black Creativity program features an exhibit, Designs for Life, which focuses on African Americans working in industrial design.

Guests will explore the unique and creative contributions African Americans have made to designing the products and systems we use everyday-including athletic shoes, cars and portable music devices-and try their hands at their own designs. In addition to the industrial design exhibit, the six-week celebration will also include educational programming, a juried art exhibition, symposia, performances, a fundraising gala and a career bowl for Chicago-area students. This exhibit is included in general admission.

Gunther Von Hagens' BODY WORLDS 2: THE ANATOMICAL EXHIBITION OF REAL HUMAN BODIES: Jan. 17 - April 29, 2007

BODY WORLDS captivated almost 800,000 guests at the Museum of Science at Industry in 2005 and now BODY WORLDS 2 will explore more mysteries of human anatomy and physiology. Through the study of real human bodies that have been preserved using the ground-breaking process called plastination, the exhibit provides people with the unprecedented opportunity to discover the wonders of the human anatomy.

BODY WORLDS 2 showcases more than 200 human specimens and more than 20 new whole-body plastinates that focus on the locomotive, nervous, respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular and reproductive systems. Many of the plastinates are posed in lifelike athletic positions, which help guests understand how our bodies respond to movement and physical challenges. Natural joints are compared with artificial joints specimens; diseased organs are juxtaposed with healthy organs-highlighting the importance of a healthy lifestyle. This compelling exhibit will enthrall those who have seen the original, as well as those who missed BODY WORLDS the first time around! PLEASE NOTE: To ensure an enriching experience for all, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, parent, guardian or school chaperone. This exhibit is not included in general admission and requires a ticket and specified entry time. Tickets, which include general Museum admission, are $23 for adults, $19 for seniors and $12.75 for children 3-11. There is a discount for City of Chicago residents. The exhibit will be open for extended evening hours-until 9 p.m. each night-as follows: January 17 through March 23, from Thursday through Saturday and every night March 24 through April 29. Evening tickets, which do not include General Admission to the Museum, are $18 for adults, $17 for seniors and $11 for children. Tickets are on sale now at www.msichicago.org or by calling (773) 684-1414. Groups of 20 or more are eligible for a discount when they book in advance.

CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS SCIENCE FAIR: March 23 - 25, 2007

In this 57th year of the Chicago Student Science Fair at the Museum, come see more than 300 amazingly inventive math and science projects that have been developed by students from the Chicago Public Schools!
Now Showing at the Omnimax® Theater-sponsored by WGN - CW Television, Chicago

THE HUMAN BODY: Through April 29, 2007

A perfect complement to the Body Worlds 2 exhibit, this film explores the wonder and complexity of the human body and what it means to be human. Using innovative filmmaking techniques, combined with the latest medical and scientific imaging, this film presents a look, in microscopic detail, at the daily biological processes that go on without our control and often without our notice.

HURRICANE ON THE BAYOU: Through Oct. 9, 2007

Take a breathtaking tour of one of the most vibrant places in America, the Louisiana bayou and the city of New Orleans, a place overflowing with life, music and natural beauty. Here, in the region's bountiful coastal wetlands, alligators, humans and other wildlife have lived in harmony for centuries. Tragically, these wetlands are eroding into the sea at the speed of one acre every 30 minutes, leaving the entire region more vulnerable to major hurricanes. Hurricane on the Bayou offers an emotional portrayal of this environmental calamity and the staggering effects of one of the most devastating natural disasters in American history, Hurricane Katrina.
PLEASE NOTE: Omnimax films are not included in general admission.

NEW! 3-D Films in High-Definition

The Museum is now offering 20-minute 3-D films in our West Pavilion Theater! This high-definition 3-D system offers dramatically crisp images and high performance digital surround sound. Two fun films with a scientific flair will be shown throughout the year. Shows begin every half hour. The first show is 30 minutes after the Museum opens and the last show is 30 minutes before closing. Check the Museum's Web site, www.msichicago.org, for film details. These films are not included in general admission. Tickets are required and are $5 per person. Must-See Permanent Exhibits

U-505 SUBMARINE

The U-505- the only German submarine captured by the U.S. Navy during World War II -resurfaced in June 2005 as part of a new 35,000-square-foot exhibit with a variety of never-before-seen artifacts, dramatic representations of key events, special effects and an optional, new on-board tour. Interactive elements let guests experience aspects of submarine operation, including dive training, the principle of buoyancy, navigation by periscope, and even encoding and decoding German Enigma messages. The exhibit is included in general admission, but the optional on-board tour of the sub is $5 per guest. Buy on-board tour tickets in advance during busy holiday periods at www.msichicago.org or by calling (773) 684-1414.

THE GREAT TRAIN STORY

The Great Train Story model railroad boasts a 3,500-square-foot layout, more than 1,400 feet of track and 34 operating trains that depict the railroad's winding journey between Chicago and Seattle. Along the way, trains are involved in industries as diverse as grain commodities, raw materials for manufacturing, consumer goods for import and export, lumber, apples, and tourism. This exhibit is included in Museum general admission. -- www.msichicago.org
