
The Arts of Sufism: Three prominent scholars discuss Sufism as it relates to aspects of Turkish art and culture. This program engages the themes of the current exhibition Marbling and Music: Practicing at a Turkish Tekke that explores the paper marbling and musical traditions associated with the Ozbekler Tekke, a religious complex for Sufi orders near Istanbul. Chagall Revealed (Book signing follows): Join a conversation that removes Chagall from "Fiddler on the Roof"Â banality to restore his full complexity as man and artist. Chagall often drew inspiration from the Hebrew Bible but obsessively painted Christ on the Cross. His paintings are love poems, but his own love-life was both splendid and anguished. In his new biography, Jonathan Wilson explores an extraordinary life and career that stretched from World War I to the turbulent 1960s and beyond, from Belarus to southern France.
