Pet Owners Eye On Holiday Fashion for Pets

The holidays are a great time to try new fashion trends and get all dolled up for parties and event. Well, man’s best friend is getting in on the action. Holiday pet fashion is becoming quite wide spread.

In Sandusky, Ohio, the Humane Society dressed up adoptable cats and dogs in holiday fashion Friday night for their annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction event. In the fashion show, the dogs wore everything from pink ballerina-type outfits to traditional holiday elves or reindeer costumes.

In Seattle, the annual Tuxes & Tails Celebrity and Pet Fashion Show and Auction fundraiser has long-been a staple fundraiser.

Pet fashion is becoming much more mainstream and London should see an increase in fashionable pets soon. Last month Harrods in London hosted the annual Pet-A-Porter Pet Fashion Show in celebration of the store’s plans to open a new 11,000 square foot pet department. Doggies walked the catwalk, on leashes of course, sporting high-fashion doggie threads from designers such as Roberto Cavalli.

Harrods' pet department will feature Swaroski crystal-studded leashes, sequin Juicy Couture tracksuits and jeweled puppy hair clips. There will even be doggie dressing rooms. Holiday fashion is no longer just for you, it’s for your pet too.
