Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Chris Henry, suffered major injuries in a car-related accident Wednesday after a domestic dispute with his fiancé, said police.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reports Henry "apparently suffers life-threatening injuries” and was transported to the Carolinas Medical Center.
Henry reportedly fell out of the back of a pickup truck his unidentified fiancé was driving. The police reports indicate Henry and his fiancé were in the middle of a “domestic situation” when he jumped into the bed of the pickup as she attempted to drive away from the residence.
Henry was found about half a mile away from his home when police were called to the scene after receiving a medic report that a man was down in the road.
Bengals’ team spokesman Jack Brennan told the Washington Post the team did not have much information.
"We are aware he was in an accident and that his injuries are very serious," Brennan said. "We are obviously staying in touch with the situation and are ready to offer whatever assistance we can."
Henry has been on injured reserve since breaking his left arm during the November 8 game against Baltimore.
