More Jail Time for Ex-Lions WR Charles Rogers

Ex-Lions wide receiver Charles Rogers was snoozing. Now he’s losing. Rogers was sent back to jail Wednesday morning after passing out in a restaurant after supposedly drinking too much Tuesday night.

Rogers was ordered to serve 93 days in the Oakland County Jail for failing to fulfill his probation in a Novi 52nd District Sobriety Court program, said Novi Deputy Chief Tom Linberg, The Detroit News reports.

The Novi Sobriety Court program is nine months of probation, including daily or weekly drug and alcohol testing, as well as individual and group counseling.

He was found in an On the Border restaurant. Authorities were notified by restaurant employees when they were unable to arouse him and were concerned he had suffered a heart attack, according to the Detroit News.

The 28 year-old Rogers was arrested back in September and charged with two misdemeanors, drunk driving and driving without a valid license, according to ESPN reports. Even that was not his first offense. He has also been sentenced to jail time for a domestic assault situation involving his girlfriend.

Rogers, the second overall NFL draft pick in 2003, has had a troubled history with alcohol and substance abuse. His short-lived NFL career was haunted with suspensions due to his extensive marijuana abuse and injuries.
