Google Donates $1 Million to Haitian Earthquake Relief

Ever the worldwide power, Google has promised a $1 million donation to help in Haitian earthquake relief efforts and created a Web site to respond to the crisis.

Google Crisis Response Web site is a central location for more information about the aftermath of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake.

The Google page is an easy place to make a donation to UNICEF, leading international children’s organization, or CARE, humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. The site says 100 percent of
UNICEF donations will reach the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support emergency relief efforts.

The page also contains information about other ways to make monetary
or in-kind donations in addition to links and resources for the latest in news and information.

A large Google Earth image shows post-earthquake imagery in Haiti.
The Google page also provides hospital information.

It is not known to which organization Google donated the million dollars, but the search engine giant is also aiding relief by giving the average citizen a one-stop spot for detailed information about the Haitian earthquake relief.
