
The 2010 Miss America contestants will be at the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas Saturday for a meet and greet. All 53 contestants will be at the runway in the Great Hall at 5:30 p.m.
The fifth annual Miss America Meet and Greet at Fashion Show is a chance for the public to get a sneak peak at all the contestants before the annual Miss America pageant next Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Lynn Weidner, Miss New Jersey 1971 and a current member of the Board of Directors of the Miss America Organization, is Master of Ceremonies for the event.
After strutting the catwalk, all the 2010 Miss America contestants will be available to sign autographs.
For more than 75 years, the Miss America pageant has been a staple of Americana. Today, representatives from each state, the District of Columbia, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, compete in areas of panel evaluation, physical fitness in a swimsuit, talent and performing arts and evening wear for the scholarship monies and title of Miss America.
Miss America typically travels over 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, promoting her platform, a social issue and awareness program to which she is personally committed, according to the Miss America Web site.
Miss America 2009, Katie Stam, was crowned last January and has since been traveling the country promoting community service involvement and as the National Goodwill Ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network and the official spokesperson for Joseph Ribkoff Clothing.
The 2010 Miss America Pageant will be broadcast live on TLC next Saturday, Jan. 30, at 8 pm Eastern.
