Jessica Simpson and the apparel giant, Jones New York, announced a partnership to launch a new line of women’s jeans to hit department stores in July.
Simpson’s lifestyle brand, the Jessica Simpson Collection, already includes shoes, handbags, outerwear, dresses, accessories, fragrance and kid’s shoes. The partnership with Jones New York will not only add jeans, but tops, jackets and skirts.
Having already experienced a large amount of success from her current fashion lines, Simpson was very involved in the launch of the new jeans line.
"She has a very strong point of view and would be in here working long hours on this, sometimes up to 12 hours or so," said Jones jeanswear CEO Jack Gross in a Women’s Wear Daily report. "I have to say, I didn't really expect to see that."
The line will sell in about 1,000 department stores this summer, as well as on jessicasimpsoncollection.com.
"What I like about Jessica is that she comes across as approachable and not too edgy, which allows for the collection to translate to a broader customer base," Gross added in the WWD report.
Unlike most celebrity designer labels, the Jessica Simpson label for jeans won’t cost an arm and a leg. The jeans are said to start at $49 a pair.
"The jeggings are amazing and the skinny jeans fit to perfection,” Simpson said in a StyleList report. "We have great tops, super soft T's and cute boyfriend blazers and jackets that complete the look."
Simpson is scheduled for a number of appearances this summer at
Macy’s, Belk, Bon-Ton and Dillard’s to promote her new jeans line, and the rest of the collection stemming from her partnership with Jones New York.
