Jehovah's Witnesses & Blood Transfusions

The real deal on why Jehovah's Witnesses refuse blood transfusions.

Jehovah's Witnesses have a non negotiable doctrine of their belief system to reject blood products.

The origin of this dogma comes from their founding father Joseph Rutherford in the early 20th century. The consumption (eating) of blood was strictly forbidden under old testament kosher law.

The Watchtower leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses saw fit to extend this prohibition over to their belief system.

They thought that the "end of the world" was coming back then (ca.1940) so there would never be much causality.

It is well into the 21st century, with the "end of the world" on hold, the Watchtower leaders have blood on their hands, with the deaths of innocent minor children.

Many children have died since rejecting life saving blood transfusions. Why do they maintain adherence to this archaic creed at all cost?

Answer:The man-made Watchtower cult is run by lawyers who know they would be sued out of existence for wrongful death suits,if they dared to outright repeal the bogus no blood ruling now.

UPDATE:The absurdity of the Watchtower rulings now allow any of the COMPONENTS of blood to be transfused, but not whole blood, and yet people are dying and lives and families are being ruined over a few old men who are always changing their minds on this matter.

(Jehovah's Witnesses do use many products that are derived from blood banks (so called blood 'fractions') but they themselves won't donate a drop)

#1 You would think if you spent

You would think if you spent your entire life studying the bible you would now there are 3 verses on this law. This is the only law given to Noah, to Israel and to Christians no other law carried through like this.

#2 The Life itself is more important than a liquid

The entire doctrine is senseless and deadly.

The Bible says nothing about blood transfusions. They didn't exist when the Old Testament and Acts were written. The Bible passages in question (kosher law) have to do with diet. Neither the Jews nor other groups oppose blood transfusions because they don't try to put a spin on something that isn't there. If the Watchtower had not issued this prohibition, no Jehovah's Witness would oppose them on Biblical grounds.

Go to Israel and try and find a super observant Orthodox Jew or Rabbi who believes that blood transfusions are against God's Law given to Moses. You can't.

#3 blood transfusionsWedding Ceremony

To sustain its rationale on blood transfusion, the Watchtower Society (WTS) holds to the position that 'blood' means 'life'. This position is critical to the WTS's position on blood transfusion.

Reckoning that 'blood' means 'life', the WTS reasons Scripture prohibits the use of blood on the grounds that it would 'sustain' the user. Hence, reasons the WTS, since blood must not be used to 'sustain', a blood transfusion falls under the Scriptural prohibition, since that blood would be 'sustaining' the recipient.

"If animal blood representing life was to be viewed as sacred and not to be taken in to sustain life, obviously human life and blood were to be viewed and treated as even more sacred ... If animal blood, representing life, was not to be taken in for sustenance, that would be even more so of human blood." (The Watchtower, June 15, 1978, page 22, emphases supplied)

#4 Jehovah's ACCEPT Blood!!

Jehovah's Witnesses take blood, but just do not realize it. In fact, they can take a whole unit of blood, if it's in the form of individual blood products. They can take albumin, hemoglobin, clotting factors, etc., etc., etc. Moreover, these allowed blood products are made from thousands of units of whole blood, blood that has been donated. Yet, the Jehovah's Witnesses do not themselves donate blood.

The new "blood fraction" policy is completely against their literal reading of the Bible. It can be likened to the Garden of Eden. On one hand, you are not allowed to eat the fruit of the tree, but you are allowed to pick the fruit, & consume applesauce, cider, and apple pie all made from the fruit.

Semantics is the name of the game. The Watchtower Society has changed its stance on blood, but does not want its followers to know that they are swimming in blood. The Watchtower Society writes that the blood fractions are "minute", in an effort to not alienate the public and long-time followers.

The Watchtower Society lies to their followers on a consistent basis. The Watchtower Society purports to abstain from blood, but they obviously do not. See www.ajwrb.org and the legal article, "Jehovah's Witnesses, Blood Transfusions, and the Tort of Misrepresentation."
