Quick Ways to Re-Decorate Homes

Holidays like Saint Patrick's Day always bring people to new levels when it comes to decorating. The bright green suddenly doesn't appear too shabby when littered around side tables or wall hangings. New colors offer a welcoming change to the everyday normalcy of a home that might need a quick makeover, along with large floral arrangements, colorful pillows or blankets and oversized mirrors.

Decorating a home for any given holiday is easy and fun because the pressure is off. Most times of the year, the average person would probably not throw bright green decorations around their house, but are sad to see them go when St. Patty's Day ends.

Jill Vegas, a speed decorator did a report on CNN to help people conjure the same non-pressured feelings they get when decorating for a holiday and encourage everyone to think outside of the box. The apartment she covers in the report is above average in terms of luxury but her ideas are simple.

Replacing cabinet doors or countertops, when done efficiently, can alter the entire state of a bathroom or kitchen. Finding the right company and staying on top of the price is most important for this venture. Homeowners or renters can save thousands if done correctly however.

Vegas also changed the look of a stairway by replacing the white stairs with a traditional stained wood. Taking carpet off of a stairway is another way to update a home. If the wood looks shabby, then go with it and add some shabby chic decorations to the rugged area.

Changing the color of anything is another affordable and easy way to alter a home's ambience. Comforters, throw blankets, pillows and chair cushions are a good place to start. Lamps, lampshades, candles, frames and floor rugs or mats are nicely updated when brightly colored or textured.

Replacing outdated overhead lighting fixtures and ceiling fans can also change the entire look of a house's interior. Add in a new table with a bowl of bright green apples on the top and an entire dining room will change.

It's time to invoke the feelings of holiday decorating and stick to them. Don't be scared of bright green, orange, black or red. Sometimes adding in a few fruitful colors can give not just a home a makeover, but the person living in it.
