Serena Williams Behaving At Australia Open

The Australian Open got under way on Monday in Melbourne. All of tennis’ superstars are present including Serena and Venus Williams, Federer, and U.S. Open darling Kim Clijsters. This marks the first major championship for Serena Williams after her notorious outburst at the U.S. Open in September.

During the U.S. Open, Williams visibly got upset and threatened a linesman. She later quit the game on a default, allowing Clijsters to take the win. Serena William's outburst at the U.S. Open cost Williams $92,000 in fines as well as getting her a Grand Slam tennis probation. Williams has openly criticized her punishment and has done so even at the Australian Open.

Serena claims that her status as a woman made the punishment more severe.

Though still bothered by the fines, Williams managed to win over opponent Ursula Radwanska from Poland. Williams has won the Australian Open three times in 2003, 2005, and 2007 respectively.

Williams is favored to win. However her two-year good behavior bond may be a problem if emotions arise. She could be suspended from another U.S. Open if so.
