Tax season is here again. Although many people tend to procrastinate when it comes to taxes – against better judgment – they still have to get it down. Tax software makers TurboTax and H&R Block are trying to help taxpayers this year by using social media.
Intuit's TurboTax is the leading tax preparation software. Its efforts this year include major emphasis on social media sites Facebook and Twitter. It wants to make their site more user-friendly, less daunting and more social.
TurboTax has already integrated Facebook and Twitter onto their site so that visitors can pass on product reviews to their friends and acquaintances. Users can browse the site for reviews relating to their financial situation. They can also share the news on Facebook.
TurboTax is also offering the help of 40 tax experts who will be answering America’s tax questions. This is a move to reach Americans in a new way, and draw them away from the competiton.
H&R Block, of course, remains part of that competition. They are also trying to reach out to Americans with social media. However, their approach is slightly different. The Block plans to use Hulu and Pandora to bring viewers and listeners 24 hours of commercial free tax tips.
