Pizza Hut's $10 Pizza Ad Aims at Super Bowl

Pizza Hut is jumping on the priced-for-recession bandwagon. They are now offering a pizza for $10. The $10 pizza promotion has been going on since November of last year and is still going strong. This comes just in time for the biggest pizza day of the year – Superbowl Sunday.

Guzzling beers isn’t the only thing going on during the Super Bowl. Gobbling pizzas will be just as popular. The day is a cash cow for pizza companies. It’s the perfect food for football fans. It’s easy to share, cheap, and delicious. This is good news for Pizza Hut. Their $10 pizza ought to be a hit.

Using the tagline, “any pizza, any size, any crust and any topping, for $10”, Pizza Hut’s $10 deal has already proven successful. Of course, Pizza Hut wants to make sure they get their message out on game day. Thus, before the game and during CBS’s pre-game show, Pizza Hut will air three commercials featuring customer testimony of why they like the $10 pizza deal.

Though the stories are scripted, The Martin Agency, who made the spots, feel that consumers will be able to relate. The ads share core values with what real consumers feel. This is a new account for the agency who won it from New York’s BBDO in December.

Pizza Hut’s $10 pizza deal may seem like to good to be true. Some customers may be left asking, “What’s the catch?”. Indeed, the commercials aren’t exactly as they appear. Rules do apply. For instance, this writer ordered a pizza from one of the set of listed pizzas, but wanted some extra jalapenos as well as a stuff crust. The extras ended up costing extra themselves.

According to consumer reports, some Pizza Hut’s actually charge more for crust, delivery and toppings. This varies from location to location. However, if one sticks to the rules, a $10 Pizza Hut deal pizza can be had. It’s a great option for the Superbowl.
