The famed English novelist and former B-movie star, Jackie Collins keeps on impressing with yet another published novel entitled, Poor Little Bitch Girl. The book is classic Collins – edgy with a keen sense of current tastes and fads. The novel takes an acerbic bite out of Hollywood Celebutantes, unfaithful politicians and the fans that love them.
At 72, Jackie Collins is the consummate professional. She has made a career writing about the young and rich jet-set crowd, that is part great Gatsby and part Perez Hilton, with a hint of Dan Brown thrown in. Indeed, her books often don’t stray too far from the truth. Her latest novel for instance, takes its cues from recent political scandals (think Mark Sanford, Elliot Spitzer, etc).
Jackie Collins infamously got her career started at a young age. Following in her sister actress Joan Collins’ footsteps, Jackie moved to Hollywood soon after getting kicked out of boarding school at the tender age of 15. She tried acting, but gave it up for her true passion, writing.
Jackie’s first novels drew as much attention for their sex-driven characters as the scandal they caused. Her first book, published in 1968, and called The World is Full of Married Men was actually banned in both Australia and South Africa. Her second effort, The Stud, continued to draw scandal, but proved a success in the USA and UK.
Poor Little Bitch Girl follows the exploits of a Hollywood actor is the prime suspect in the murder of his actress wife. There is also, for good measure, a healthy dose of political scandal too. A politician gets involved in a dangerous affair. Things go awry when his pregnant lover goes missing. It takes place in Washington DC, New York City and, of course, Los Angeles.
Many of Jackie’s novels have made it onto the big screen including Hollywood Wives, a miniseries, and the film Yesterday’s Heros. Collins has already begun her whirlwind book tour including a recent stop at Good Morning America. Little Bitch Girl has everything Hollywood likes – sex, intrigue, scandal and murder. Jackie Collins is sure to strike it big once again. Look the novel in bookstores online and across the nation.
