Ted Turner Cites God in BP Oil Leak

Ted Turner on BP Oil Leak

The BP oil leak disaster has reached dizzying heights, spreading from the Gulf Coast to the shores of Florida and threatening to cut off the livelihood of many coastal fishermen as well as have steep economic and environmental impact in the region. Now, pundits left and right are weighing in on the matter, including American media mogul, Ted Turner, who made the controversial remarks citing the cause of the spill as possibly “God’s work”.

Ted Turner is no stranger to controversy. He’s been called the “Mouth of the South,” and even referred to Christianity as a “religion for losers”. His latest controversy stems from the BP Gulf Coast oil leak and other disasters like the recent coal mining catastrophes in West Virginia and China, which he referred to as acts of God.

“I’m just wondering if God is telling us he doesn’t want us to drill offshore,” said Turner. “Maybe the Lord’s tired of having the mountains of West Virginia, the tops knocked off of them so they can get more coal. I think maybe we ought to just leave the coal in the ground and go with solar and wind power and geo-thermals where’s it’s applicable.”

Turner is just the latest talking head to offer their opinion on the spate of resource mining related disasters occurring of late. Senator Harry Reid recently put in his two cents, saying, “ Their (BP’S) greed led to 11 horrific and unnecessary deaths. It has harmed an enormous tourism industry, threatened business at countless fisheries and disrupted life for many along the Gulf Coast. As the pollution grows worse, those consequences will only compound.”

The BP oil leak has grown into a massive environmental calamity, rivaling that of the Exxon Valdese oil spill. The slow and failure prone response has drawn much criticism from across the board. The Obama administration is currently investigating BP’s handling of the spill. Thus far, containment procedures have been met by a series of setbacks including a failed attempt to use a large box to siphon off the oil.

The oil spill is still spreading, and many fear the leak is worse than first cited. BP has repeatedly said that they cannot guarantee estimates of how much oil is currently leaking, leaving the company to face harsh criticism that the oil giant has little idea of what they are actually doing.

Turner, meanwhile stands by his words, saying the U.S., as “the biggest polluter and the biggest energy user in the world” should stop such heavy reliance on coal and oil.

#1 Turner is a special kind of moron

You have to be kidding me? Are you serious?? REALLY? 50 people have died this year to coal and oil gathering and its God trying to tell us to stop? What about the 341 people who died last year due to falls in the bathtub?? God wants us rid of them evil things as well. Jesus Christ how does such a moron make such huge amounts of money? Turner, you are king moron of Moronville, use your head and THINK once in a while, sheesh.

#2 BP oil spil

BP needs to get on top of their S*#t before this gets way outta control. Just plug the hole up with concrete plugs and close up the well; end of problem. But I guess BP is bein' greedy and tryin' to squeeze more money out of a dying cause. SOMEBODY ELSE SAY SOMETHING!!!!!!!

#3 Is BP a terrorist?

BP certainly fits the description of a terrorist. Let's treat BP like a terrorist by classifying BP executives as enemy combatants and sending them to Guantanamo for daily waterboarding until they confess then introduce them to the Cuban firing squad

#4 Devil not God is responsible

Ted Turner is wrong. You would think that after all these years people would know that God is not the angry being as some read the Old Testament, but the loving face that Jesus represents in the New. For Turner to say that "Christianity as a “religion for losers”, shows me that he does not know what the religion and Jesus' appearance is all about.

Man's appetite for oil and greed, that man has wrought through his own will, has the rich like Mr Turner to blame God, instead of acting and living according to God's plan for us. This makes me mad that the press thinks what this man says is news is just as sad. Please do not quote the ignorant about which they have no business to be "enlightened". The old adage that ignorance is bliss is so true for this supposed news.

FIrst of all, Ted is not only a philanthropist, but a conservationist. God gave us free will and also this earth to enjoy and care for. We should thank people who really care and express their views, It may be that thanks to their effort, your children, grandchildren and future generations will have clean water and air, forests and wildlife to enjoy.

We should stop criticizing others, instead, try to join and express your views, in a positive way, about all the wrongs that are done in the world. We always see our faults in others, so please, think before you attack. We should all follow their example and join the cause to have peace and a better world to live in.

P.S. Ted Turner is not, by any means, a moron. If he were, he would not have been able to have a successful business and he is compassionate and cares for his fellow men, what Jesus taught us.

Peace to all
