Ronald Cummings, the father of missing child Haleigh Cummings has been arrested for drug trafficking, according to a news report on HLN Nancy Grace Show. Cummings was arrested along with his wife, Misty Croslin Cummings for drug trafficking of opiate drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone.
Five year old Haleigh Cummings went missing on February 10, 2009. Misty Croslin, then the girlfriend of Ronald Cumings called 911 and reported that Haleigh was missing from her bed and the back door was open. Ronald Cummings was at work at the time his daughter disappeared.
From the beginning the stories did not add up, and Croslin especially seemed evasive. One week after Haleigh went missing Ronald Cummings and 17 year old Misty Croslin got married, even though young Haleigh had disappeared without a trace. Ronald Cummings subsequently filed for divorce from Misty Croslin on October 6, 2009.
On Thursday, January 21, 2010, Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin appeared in court on drug charges. They were charged with six counts of trafficking oxycodone and hydrocodone. If found guilty, each count could net 30 years behind bars.
The Haleigh Cummings was in the headlines when the child went missing from the Florida trailer shared by Cummings and Croslin. Misty Croslin was taking care of her boyfriend's two children on the night when Haleigh disappeared from her bed. Croslin claimed that she had put the children to bed and was sleeping in the same room with them. When she got up in the middle of the night she discovered that Haleigh was gone and the back door was propped open.
A massive search was launched for the missing child, but no trace of Haleigh was found. Because of health problems that Haleigh had and the amount of time that had passed, investigators announced that Haleigh was presumed dead several months later.
