
There are several important and competitive races in the Illinois Primary Election on February 2, 2010. Hotly contested races include the race for Illinois Governor and the U.S. Senate seat once held by Barack Obama.
Main concerns of the Illinois voters include government corruption, taxes and spending of state money, according to polls reported on ABC 7 News. One of the challenges to voters is to determine which candidates have the qualities of integrity and honesty that voters seek.
The seat of Illinois Governor is a hotly contested race. Incumbent Governor Pat Quinn (D), was the Lieutenant Governor to disgraced former governor Rod Blagojevich. Quinn was appointed to the Governor's office after former governor Rod Blagojevich (D) was impeached. Blagojevich faces Federal charges for corruption. One of the charges is his attempt to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama when he was elected president.
There are 14 active candidates for governor in the Illinois Primary. Those are the Incumbent Pat Quinn and Dan Hynes are vying for the Democratic nomination. Seven Republican candidates are vying for the Republican nomination.

- Randy Stufflebeam (Constitution) State Party Chair, Retired USMC Veteran, Church Activist and 2006 Nominee
- Rich Whitney (Green) – Attorney, Ex-Journalist
- Lex Green (Libertarian) – Auto Worker
- Willia 'Dock' Walls (Independent) – Ex-Chicago Mayoral Aide
- Michael White (Independent) – Speech Therapy Clinic Business Manager & Retired USAF
Polls are open until 7:00 PM. Snow is falling in Illinois, which may prevent some people from going to the polls, but the snow is not heavy enough to keep most people off the roads. Voter turnout is considered to be very important in today's races, but so far the turnout has been light, according to reports.
