
Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen was charged on February 7, 2010 for the alleged Christmas Day assault on his wife, Brooke Mueller Sheen. Sheen was charged in the Pitkin County Court in Aspen, Colorado on domestic violence allegations. Ninth Judicial Court Judge James Boyd presided over the hearing.
The February 7, 2010 court appearance was Sheen's first since being jailed on Christmas Day in Aspen. Charlie Sheen was charged with felony menacing, two misdemeanor charges, third degree assault and criminal mischief. The class five felony charge is the most series. If convicted the charge could carry an state prison sentence of one to three years, according to the Aspen News.
In the charging document introduced on Monday stated that Sheen 'unlawfully, felonious and knowingly attempted to place Brooke Mueller in fear of imminent serious bodily injury by use of a deadly weapon..namely a knife. Sheen is being charged under his birth name: Carlos Irwin Estevez.
Judge Boyd also heard a motion to modify the Protection Order that has been in place since the Christmas Day arrest. The order of protection was modified so that Sheen and his wife can live together, but restrictions against firearms, drugs and alcohol remain in force.
