Dubai World Cup Lauches Opening of Meydan

The Dubai World Cup horse race is running on Saturday, March 27, 2010, is spite of recent financial woes for the emigre. Dubai is going ahead with the the world's richest horse race at a new $2 billion facility on Saturday.

The ruler of Dubai has spared no expense to finish the Meydan Racecourse in the Dubai World Cup. The $25 million purse is huge in a country that is in the midst of an economic recession. The 15th World Cup is also marks the launch of the new Meydan Racecourse and Grandstand. Held in conjunction with the landmark event inaugurating the official opening of Meydan, a new era in horse racing will be introduced as the world’s largest integrated racing facility is launched.

International music icons Elton John and Carlos Santana lead the entertainment extravaganza at the 15th Dubai World Cup. The day is culmination of the 7th Dubai International Racing Carnival, and the first Dubai World Cup to be held at Meydan.

The highlight of the World Cup is the opening ceremony spectacular, a a multi-sensory experience themed around “The Vision of Meydan”. Meydan reveals that highlights will include media links across what is possibly the largest moving projected image screen in the world at 6,725 square metres across 15 projection wings that will audiences through a myriad of elements ranging from the cultural to the historical and the emotional, including the greatest moments of the past 14 Dubai World Cups.
