Youtube now offering movie rentals

Youtube.com has been one of, if not, the most popular video site for some time now. Along with videos from practical jokers, to travel buffs, to Francis Ford Coppola "wannabe's", Youtube.com has just added another great feature to their list of accolades; Movie Rentals.

To help promote several movies at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, Youtube.com" has now (as of Friday) entered the movie rental market. The showcased films include "The Cove," "Bass Ackwards," "One Too Many Mornings," "Homewrecker" and "Children of Invention

Most films that are available to rent through YouTube will cost $3.99 for a 48-hour viewing period. That is in line with most PPV movies on your cable provider and the rental period is twice as long.

If you take a look at the movie listing on Youtube, you will see some movies you might know, an old favorite maybe or possibly the next great indie film.

In light of this news, as well as the availability of full length TV shows on the network sites as well as Hulu, we may just come to a point where the need for actual TV or your cable provider is questioned.
