CBS has rejected an ad from a gay dating site, ManCrunch.com. The site claims the network is biased.
The ManCrunch rejection adds to the already brewing controversy over the Tim Tebow commercial that the network has accepted.
"It's straight-up discrimination," Elissa Buchter, spokeswoman for the Toronto-based dating site told CNNMoney.
"After reviewing the ad, which is entirely commercial in nature, our standards and practices department decided not to accept this particular spot," said CBS spokeswoman Shannon Jacobs. "We are always open to working with a client on alternative submissions."
Buchter provided a copy of the CBS rejection letter which says that the proposed adverisement "is not within the Network's broadcast standards for Super Bowl Sunday," and also adds that the CBS sales department "has had difficulty verifying credit status."
Buchter claims that the site offered to pay cash," while Jacobs says CBS has no record of any such offer.
ManCrunch would have been charged $2.5 million for its ad, however, the newly formed dating service has recently raised $40 million from investors.
The commercial depicts two men watching the Super Bowl. Their hands brush each other in the potato chip bowl, which leads to a male-on-male make-out session.
