Who played at the Super Bowl halftime?

The famous Abbott and Costello routine asked "Who's on first?" Many watching the Super Bowl halftime show may have been asking "Who dat?"

It was in fact The Who, a sixties supergroup who once were famous for the lyrics, "I hope I die before I get old."

Well, it was obvious to those watching that these guys have lived for some time. But even senior citizens can rock with the best of them when they have been playing together as long as Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend have.

They may have gotten a bit short of breath as they performed songs originally recorded more than 30 years ago. But Townshend wearing shades and a porkpie hat swung his arms while playing his patented windmill power chords and Daltrey hit most of his notes and even added a nice harmonica solo

The original group featured Keith Moon as the band’s drummer and John Entwistle played bass. Both are gone, but the drums were handled by Ringo's son Zak Starkey.

Daltrey and Townshend have kep their music alive by licensing it to countless advertisers. Consequently their tunes are familiar and span the generations. Songs like “Pinball Wizard,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Who Are You,” “See Me, Feel Me,” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

The performance was a bit rough around the edges, but at least Daltrey and Townshend weren’t lip-synching.
