Computer Sciences Corporation announced today that it has won a contract to develop the Integrated Digitization Document Management Program (IDDMP) for the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The value of the base year of the five-year contract is $5.9 million.
Under the terms of the contract, CSC will develop and implement the IDDMP infrastructure and integrate products and solutions necessary to enable the transformation of USCIS alien files (A-files) from paper to digital format. Using the IDDMP system, DHS personnel will be able to more efficiently support benefits adjudication efforts due to enhanced access to A-files within the USCIS, as well as across Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection and other DHS and law enforcement agencies supporting investigation initiatives. In addition, the automated system will provide key features for future planned capabilities that support the strategic objectives for the USCIS' transformation programs and the Temporary Worker Program.
Today there are more than 55 million A-files used by the USCIS to make decisions about immigrants' applications for citizenship and other benefits. The new system will capture and retain scanned and electronic images for each file, which can each contain anywhere from one to hundreds of pages, and make them available to authorized users from a single document repository. When fully deployed, the system will reduce operational costs and increase efficiency across the DHS and law enforcement agencies.
"CSC is pleased to have been selected by the USCIS to apply our experience and expertise in document management and provide DHS workers with a viable tool to support the electronic viewing of documents,"Â said James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC's Federal Sector business unit. "The system will allow Homeland Security users across the agency to search, track, organize and view records, process cases more quickly, and manage and share vast quantities of data while protecting sensitive information."Â
Teaming with CSC are Perpetual Logic LLC, of Alexandria, Va.; Taxonomy Strategies LLC, of San Francisco, Calif.; and Washington Consulting Inc., of McLean, Va - CSC.
