In response to the recent interest in giant pandas, Zoo Atlanta has launched an addition to its Rare Care Program. This addition will allow "panda fans"Â to actively participate in giant panda conservation. Beginning today and only for a limited time, patrons will be able to sponsor Mei Lan, the giant panda cub born on Sept. 6 to parents Lun Lun and Yang Yang.
Participants will receive a special promotional panda "Cub To-Go"Â box containing a stuffed panda, a certificate of sponsorship, a giant panda fact sheet, a timeline of Mei Lan's growth and milestones, and a collectable photograph of Mei Lan. The sponsorship also includes an opportunity for four people to get an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Animal Nutrition Kitchen, where the food for Zoo Atlanta's animals is prepared.
Zoo Atlanta's Rare Care program currently offers varying levels of support from which to choose. Each level is represented by at-risk animals ranging from low risk to critically endangered. During this limited offer, the cost of sponsorship for giant panda cub Mei Lan is $100. As part of the ongoing Rare Care program, animal sponsorships range from $50-$1000 annually. All contributions are tax-deductible and proceeds will be used to further Zoo Atlanta's giant panda conservation efforts. -- www.zooatlanta.org
