McAfee, Inc. today announced that McAfee SiteAdvisor, the world's first safe search and surf technology, has been acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Commerce with its "Recognition of Excellence in Innovation" honor. The announcement was made today by the Honorable Robert Cresanti, U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology, for the software tool's innovative approach to making the Internet a safer place to search and surf for consumers.

"This free tool provides millions of consumers with proactive online protection to combat Internet-based threats like identity theft, phishing scams, browser exploits, and other dangerous and fraudulent activity. We applaud McAfee SiteAdvisor for making the Web experience safer."
Cresanti also serves as Chief Privacy Officer for the Department of Commerce, and is very involved in talking to industry, consumers and other government officials about steps each can take to increase online data protection.
