To combat the epidemic issue of childhood obesity, No Limits, the largest mixed martial arts (MMA) academy and event center in North America, will host a health-oriented summer drop-off program for boys and girls ages six to 11. The program will get kids up and moving by offering three work-out formats per day spanning: kickboxing, jiu jitsu, yoga, speed and agility training and hip hop dance. In addition, participants will learn about the importance of proper nutrition from a local Orange County fitness specialist. No Limits Summer Camp will be hosted Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first session will kick off on July 7 and continue through July 25; the second session will be hosted from July 28-August 15.
“Many Orange County kids will spend the next three months playing video games, watching TV, and repeating the dreaded summertime childhood mantra: ‘I’m bored,’” says Karen Vasquez.Santaniello, No Limits co-founder, and the first-ever female MMA fight promoter. “We wanted to offer a solution that would allow local youths to have fun while also keeping healthy and fit. This is the perfect answer both for kids who appreciate learning one of the fastest-growing and ‘coolest’ new sports from the best-known pros of the industry; and for parents who appreciate knowing that their kids are doing something healthy with their summer free-time.”
Childhood obesity currently affects more than 30 percent of U.S. children – making it the most common chronic disease of childhood. More than just a cosmetic problem, today’s kids are being diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension and other morbid conditions associated with obesity. In response to this growing epidemic, No Limits has taken a well-rounded approach, which includes the highest quality training from some of the biggest names in MMA, as well as a kids health and fitness expert, yoga teachers, a speed and agility trainer, and a nutrition consultant.
“Orange County kids will spend the summer learning from the most knowledgeable health, fitness and nutrition experts in the industry. Through playful activity, they will get healthy and strong – and the best part is, they’ll have loads of fun doing it,” says Vasquez.Santaniello.
No Limits Summer Camp tuition starts at $350 for three full weeks. A 10 percent discount is offered to those who sign up prior to June 1. In addition, No Limits is offering a 10 percent sibling discount; and a 50 percent discount to current No Limits members. Weekly rates will also be provided, on a space available basis.
