Czech Republic The Last Holdout After Poland Signs Lisbon Treaty

Poland today signed and ratified the Lisbon Treaty after the Irish said Yes to the treaty in the referendum last week. Now the last holdout is the Czech Republic.

Vaclav Claus, the president of Czech Republic has said he will sign it after some modification. He wants to make sure that the signing of the treaty may not lead to post 2nd World Wall crisis.

The Czech parliamen has already voted in favor of the treaty, but it still requires the presidential signature to be ratified and come into force.

Lech Kaczynski, the president of Poland, has signed the European Union's reform treaty into law today. However, before signing it, the president of Poland stressed that EU remains "a union of nation-states, a strict union, and let it remain so." He said Poland will achieve good success in the union of national states.
