A Hindu temple in Nepal has begun its ritual of animal sacrifice, which it conducts every five years. The animals are sacrificed to Gadhimai, a Hindu goddess of power. The temple in Bariyapur is located about 95 miles from Kathmandu, in Nepal's southern plains bordering India.

Almost two months after his arrest on a felony child molestation warrant, famous Hollywood director Roman Polanski was granted bail by the Swiss Court. The Swiss Criminal Court granted Polanski's bail request on the condition that he post a $4.5 million cash bail and wear a 24 hour electronic monitoring bracelet.
