National Dog Show 2009 Best in Show Winner is Sadie

Over 150 breeds and over 1,400 dogs competed at the National Dog Show 2009 but only one could be named Best in Show. The honors went to Sadie the Scottish Terrier, owned by Amelia Musser of Mackinack Island, Michigan. Sadie, registered with the American Kennel Club as Champion Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, wins a the attention over 20 million viewers and a $6,000 cash prize.

Malaysia and Japan net hockey wins

Malaysia and Japan both recorded wins in pool A of the men's hockey tournament at Al-Rayyan Sports Club on Wednesday to stay in contention for semifinals places. Malaysia survived an early scare and came from behind to beat Hong Kong, China 2-1 at Al-Rayyan Sports Club. In the following match, Japan enjoyed a much more comfortable victory, 4-0 over Chinese Taipei.

Volleyball wins for Chinese Taipei and Bahrain

Chinese Taipei and Bahrain both recorded their third successive victories in pool B of the preliminary round of the men's volleyball tournament at the Al-Rayyan Indoor Hall on Thursday. Chinese Taipei upset Thailand, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21 in men's volleyball preliminaries, at Al-Rayyan Indoor Hall.

Qatar win handball thriller

The main rounds of the men' handball tournament got underway on Thursday with victories for Kuwait, Korea, Qatar and Syria at the Al-Gharrafa Indoor Hall. Qatar edged out IR Iran 27-24 in a tremendous match to keep up their 100 per cent record. There was little between the teams in the first half, with both sides refusing to let the other build a commanding lead.

There were some memorable battles on ASPIRE's badminton courts on Thursday evening as the quarterfinals in both the men's and women's singles took place. In the women's tournament, China's top seeded Zhang Ning was eliminated as second seed Xie Xingfang was taken to three sets before prevailing.
