A new study in the journal Social Science Quarterly reveals that music participation, defined as music lessons taken in or out of school and parents attending concerts with their children, has a positive effect on reading and mathematic achievement in early childhood and adolescence.

A new study challenges the idea that antisocial behavior is relatively unchangeable during the teenage years. The study, published in the March/April 2008 issue of the journal Child Development, found that decision making and behavior among adolescents are related across time, and that efforts to help may be more effective if they address how adolescents make decisions about acting aggressively.

The participatory action research project titled, “Enabling Adolescents in Culturally Diverse Environments to Peacefully Resolve Ethnic Group Conflicts,” was conducted by special issue guest editors, Charles Garvin of the University of Michigan and David Bargal of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
