China's Great Wall Motor is shipping 700 vehicles to Algeria, including 420 Peris cars and 280 Deer pickups, the official Xinhua news agency reported today.

Algeria's official news agency (APS) says the death toll from Wednesday's suicide bombings in the capital has risen to 33. More than 200 others were wounded in the two car bombings - one, outside the office of Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem in central Algiers, and the second, at a police station in the Bab Ezzouar district in the city's eastern outskirts.

Two apparent car bombs have exploded in the Algerian capital, killing at least 17 people and wounding more than 80. Some reports put the casualty figures much higher. The attacks come as Algeria and other North African states have tightened security amid rising threats from al-Qaida linked militant groups.
