On November 14 at the Jewish Community Center, the Ann Arbor Symphony will host a performance by Anton Shelepov and his Andiamo Quartet, playing Piazzolla Tangos. A2SO violinist Shelepov is former assistant concertmaster of the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra and associate concertmaster of the St. Petersburg Mozarteum. Dessert is served at 1:30 pm followed at 2:00 pm by a one-hour concert.

In a round of auditions held in late September, the Ann Arbor Symphony (A2SO) hired 10 new musicians to round out its orchestral performance staff. Richard Edwards joins us on the Double Bass, Katherine Evans will play Principal Bassoon, and Daniel Thomas joins us on Cello.

After last year's extravagant celebration of Mozart's 250th birthday, the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra could perhaps have been forgiven for relaxing a little for Ludwig's 251st. Instead, the A2SO took on a trio of challenging works Saturday night at the Michigan Theater that not only showed off Mozart's range of compositional skills but also served as a showcase for some of the ensemble's principal musicians.
