The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra continues their 2007-2008 season with Mozart's Birthday Bash on Saturday, January 26 in the Michigan Theater at 8 pm. The concert marks the 11th annual Mozart Birthday Bash, a celebration of Mozart's life and music.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Dickinson Wright Family Series presents Babar on January 27, 2007 in the Michigan Theater at 4 pm. The concert is sponsored by Campbell Industries with additional support from the MCACA and the NEA. Showcased on the concert is the narrated story of Babar, a young elephant who leaves the jungles of Africa for the bustling streets of Paris.

The Dead Composers Society invites all young professionals (ages 21-39) to enjoy dinner, classical music and meeting new people on Saturday, January 26. Fabulously fun dinner at 6:00 pm (location TBA), followed by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra performance, the 11th Annual Mozart Birthday Bash, at 8 pm in the Michigan Theater.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Dickinson Wright Family Series presents Sing-Along with Santa on December 1, 2007 in the Bethlehem United Church of Christ at 4 pm. The concert features the Head Elf himself. Joining Santa Claus in this afternoon of holiday fun are Andrew Pelletier, principal French horn of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, and local radio personality Lucy Ann Lance.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra continues their 2007-2008 season with Heroes on Saturday, December 8 in the Michigan Theater at 8 pm. The concert is cosponsored by Campbell Industries and Pfizer.

Fabulously fun dinner at 6:00 pm (at the City Center Building, with Gyros on the menu!), followed by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra performance Heroes at 8 pm in the Michigan Theater.

On November 14 at the Jewish Community Center, the Ann Arbor Symphony will host a performance by Anton Shelepov and his Andiamo Quartet, playing Piazzolla Tangos. A2SO violinist Shelepov is former assistant concertmaster of the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra and associate concertmaster of the St. Petersburg Mozarteum. Dessert is served at 1:30 pm followed at 2:00 pm by a one-hour concert.

In a round of auditions held in late September, the Ann Arbor Symphony (A2SO) hired 10 new musicians to round out its orchestral performance staff. Richard Edwards joins us on the Double Bass, Katherine Evans will play Principal Bassoon, and Daniel Thomas joins us on Cello.

Elizabeth Kelly, student at Eastman School of Music, who recently completed her Master of Music Degree from the University of Michigan, won the nation-wide competition to compose a playful and whimsical audience reminder to listen quietly during a concert performance.
