Today, the president of Armenia Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, just hours ahead of the signing of the protocols between Armenia and Turkey on normalization of relations, issued an address to the nation saying his country's commitment to protocols is not unilateral. "Therefore, if Turkey fails to ratify the protocols within reasonable timeframe or to accomplish its provisions in due time, Armenia will undertake corresponding measures in accordance with international law," said the president.

The role of Red Cross Societies in rendering assistance to the Armenian refugees who suffered the Genocide is significant. One of the first organizations that responded to the Turkish violence was the American Red Cross. On September 17, during the Iftar dinner, which the PM of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave to Turkish media editors-in-chiefs, he said Turkey would not open its border with Armenia without solution to Nagorno Karabakh problem.
