Ishiuchi, one of Japan's leading contemporary photographers, will be the focus for an exhibition entitled mother's and will comprise 68 photos relating to her recently deceased mother. Ishiuchi was the artist chosen to represent Japan at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005.

Sulman Prizes 2007 Winners Announced

This year, the 86th year of Archibald, there were 640 entries for Archibald, 639 for the Wynne Prize and 433 for the Sulman Prize. The Archibald and Wynne prizes are judged by the Trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The Judge for the Sulman prize was Hossein Valamanesh.

TEZUKA Osamu is acknowledged as an artistic master, and is revered as the figurehead of the manga and anime industries in Japan. In the West he is best known for Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion which were serialised internationally for television in the 1960s.

Howard Arkley's Paintings At Art Gallery, Sydney

For almost thirty years Howard Arkley (1951-1999) produced some of the most idiosyncratic and iconoclastic art in Australia. This exhibition represents the development of his oeuvre from the early 1970s to the final major works with which he was represented at the Venice Biennale in 1999. The exhibition runs from 10 March to 6 May 2007.
