Seyed Alavi has created site-specific installations for The New Museum of Contemporary Art and Franklin Furnace in New York City; The University Art Museum-Cal State Long Beach; The Museum of Santa Cruz County; The deSaisset Museum; The University Art Museum, Sonoma State; The University Art Museum, Cal State San Bernadino and San Francisco's Capp Street Project.

Joseph Cipolla and Robert Tewsley are to appear as Guest Artists with Birmingham Royal Ballet in David Bintley's production of Cyrano, which premieres at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Wednesday 7th February. Robert Tewsley will also appear in the Company's Stravinsky programme of work.

Birmingham Royal Ballet will open its exciting and varied new season at Birmingham Hippodrome on Wednesday 7 February with a world premiere of Cyrano. This brand new production is choreographed by David Bintley for BRB, has a specially commissioned score by Carl Davis and new sets by Hayden Griffin.

The Smithsonian Institution has awarded fellowships to nine artists to conduct research at Smithsonian museums and research facilities as part of a new Artist Research Fellowship Program. The nine artists are Ghada Amer (New York); Sandow Birk (Long Beach, Calif.); Björn Dahlem (Berlin); Terence Gower (New York); Shih Chieh Huang (New York); Nene Humphrey (Brooklyn, N.Y.); Sergio Palleroni (Austin, Texas); Tim Rollins (New York); and Sue Williamson (Cape Town, South Africa).
