Fencing: Korea foil China for gold

As the fencing competition proceeded to its penultimate final, Korea successfully defended their 2002 Busan Asian Games gold medal in the women's team foil competition after beating China 45-37 at Al-Arabi Indoor Hall.

Korea defend hockey crown

Korea defended the men's hockey gold medal they won in Busan 2002 by defeating China 3-1 in the final of the competition at Al-Rayyan Sports Club. The win meant they were the only undefeated team in the tournament while Jang Jong Hyun finished as the top scorer with 15 goals.

Men's water polo: Consolation bronze for Kazakhs

Kazakhstan added a bronze medal to their three gold in the last four Asian Games by pushing IR Iran under, 12-8 in the men's water polo competition at Al-Sadd Sports Club. Kazakhstan's teamwork was outstanding with six of their players scoring. Their six-on-five offence was potent, scoring four out of six attempts.

Handball: IR Iran get hands on bronze

IR Iran won their first ever Asian Games handball medal, a bronze, with a 31-27 victory over Korea at Al-Gharrafa Indoor Hall on Thursday 14 December. IR Iran led from start to finish, fighting off a late comeback from the Koreans, who go home empty-handed for the first time in Asian Games history.
