Pole vault: Isinbayeva ready for competition in Rome

Yelena Isinbayeva has competed on a level all to herself for the past three seasons. That could change on Friday at the Golden Gala meet. The Russian pole vault world record-holder will go up against Jennifer Stuczynski for the first time since the American cleared 4.88 meters on June 2 - tying Stuczynski with former world record-holder Svetlana Feofanova for second best all time.

Haile Gebrselassie to take part in New York City Half-Marathon

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Haile Gebrselassie will make debut in the New York City Half-Marathon next month. The 34-year-old Ethiopian, who has only run three times in the United States, will compete on Aug. 5 in the race from Central Park through Times Square to Battery Park.

Radcliffe may miss worlds for bach injury

Back injury can become the reason for marathon record-holder Paula Radcliffe to miss World Athletics Championships in Japan this August. Radcliffe, who gave birth to daughter Isla on Jan. 17, said she sustained a stress fracture at the base of her spine during the 27-hour labor.

Athletics - Sky's not the limit for Park

Park Jae-Myoung of Korea won a nail-biting, closely-fought men's javelin contest to claim his first major title. Park took the lead in the second round when threw 79.16m, and the 25 year-old further stretched his advantage when he recorded 79.30m in round three.
