World number one men's tennis player Roger Federer of Switzerland has won the Australian Open championship in Melbourne, his 10th career Grand Slam title.

Unseeded and ranked No. 81, Serena Williams made it back to a Grand Slam final with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Nicole Vaidisova at the Australian Open.

Serena Williams won her semifinal match on Thursday, and will next face Maria Sharapova in the finals of the 2007 Australian Open.
