Ballet San Jose kicks off its 2008-09 season with the fall's biggest coup Nov. 20-23, restaging August Bournonville's two-act comic opera set in Spain, "The Toreador," featuring Symphony Silicon Valley performing the score live.

The first program in the series marks the Sarasota Ballet's first performance in the newly renovated Sarasota Opera House. The program includes performances of George Balanchine's Divertimento No. 15, Dame Ninette de Valois' Checkmate and John Cranko's Pineapple Poll on November 28, 29 and 30.

On Saturday, October 18, from 10 am to 5:30 pm, New York City Ballet will present its annual Dance Wellness Workshop, “Bodies in Balance,” at the Company’s Rose Building rehearsal studios at Lincoln Center.

The ballet received its U.S. premiere by Boston Ballet in 2005 and was met with an abundance of audience and critical praise. Drink deeply from the dark side of desire this Halloween with BalletMet Columbus’ Dracula, October 10-18, 2008, at the Capitol Theatre. The production will go underground following this season, after captivating Columbus since 1999. Inspired by the Bram Stoker novel, this spine-tingling ballet by David Nixon seduces audiences with exhilarating mystery and drama.

Boston Ballet embarks on its 2008-2009 season with a pair of ballets that are sure to delight both the young and the young at heart. Currently on a week-long tour to Korea, the Company returns home to begin preparations for the new season, which will have Boston Ballet lighting up the stage with 21st century fairy-tales and excitement.

Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announced today the complete repertoire and casting for Boston Ballet’s annual, one-night-only all-star gala performance, Night of Stars, which takes place on Friday, October 10 at 8pm at Citi Performing Arts CenterSM Wang Theatre.

In addition to Orlando Ballet’s subscription series performances, the Ballet will give nine performances of The Nutcracker, December 12-21, 2008, at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.
