The last elections in Nigeria have left the political class more polarized than ever before as former political allies have suddenly become sworn enemies while others have become strange bedfellows too.

The Vanguard newspaper of Friday April 20,2007, reported that the Nigerian Army has intercepted a truckload of ballot boxes with thumb-printed ballots in Kaduna state in Northern Nigeria.

Over 46 people were killed on Saturday April 14, in one of the bloodiest elections in Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation and it's largest oil producer. Seven police men were killed as militants attacked and razed three police stateions in the Niger Delta and at least 40 civilians were killed in bloody political clashes in several states across Nigeria.
