Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is proud to welcome its new Young Conductor in Association, Matthew Wood. Matthew was selected by the musicians of the Orchestra following a rigorous audition procedure in June.

American composer John Adams continues his two-week residency with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra October 4-6 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, making his BSO conducting debut in a program featuring two of his most appealing works: The Wound-Dresser with baritone Sanford Sylvan, and My Father Knew Charles Ives.

The opportunity to meet a contemporary composer is extraordinary, but to speak with 11 throughout the course of a season is unprecedented. Yet Baltimore Symphony Orchestra patrons will have the chance to do just that, beginning September 26 with John Adams, as the BSO launches its new “Composers in Conversation” series, an intimate audience-enrichment program featuring many of today’s most prominent composers.

The Walters will present Déjà Vu? Revealing Repetition in French Masterpieces, an unprecedented international loan exhibition exploring the changing significance of repetition in early modern painting (roughly 1800–1940).

Marin Alsop will lead her inaugural concerts as the twelfth music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, September 27 at the Music Center at Strathmore and September 28-30 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

On March 29 at the Music Center at Strathmore, and March 30 through April 1 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, renowned astrophysicist, author and art connoisseur Dr. Mario Livio joins the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to consider the concept of symmetry and its musical manifestations in an extraordinary Explorer series program.

"Long Crandon" in Timonium, Maryland is the site of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's 31st Annual Decorators' Show House. From April 29 through May 20, visitors can tour this beautiful English/Georgian-style home, which was built for Margaretta and William Wallace Lanahan in 1920 and counts the Duke and Duchess of Windsor among its celebrated guests.

Comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, two stars of the Emmy-nominated series Whose Line Is It Anyway?, have teamed up to present an evening of extraordinary improvisational comedy at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. The pair's last appearance at the Meyerhoff, in April 2005, was a sell-out success.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra has announced the launch of its first downloadable live-concert recording, featuring the Orchestra's January 11-14, 2007 performances of Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, conducted by Music Director Designate Marin Alsop and featuring members of the Peabody Symphony Orchestra.
