U.S. schools and fast-food restaurants are taking one brand of beef off their menus Monday as part of the largest beef recall in American history - 65 million kilograms.

An accusation of violations in meat producing standards by the California food processing company Westland/Hallmark Meat Company have promoted The USDA (usada.gov) to make the largest beef meat recall action in U.S. history. 143 million pounds of beef are recalled by USDA.

Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for approximately 41,305 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, that were produced at Interstate Meat Dist., Inc., a Clackamas, Ore., establishment.
