U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced it was citing Wal-Mart for inadequate crowd management following the Nov. 28, 2008 (Black Friday), death of Jdimytai Damour.

You might remember the case of Jdimytai Damour, 34, a temporary worker, who was shoved to the ground as he opened the doors to a Wal-Mart in Valley Stream, NY and trampled to death on "Black Friday," last year. The family eventually sued, but on Wednesday Wal-Mart and prosecutors inked a deal that requires the retailer to pay nearly $2 million and improve safety at its 92 New York stores, in exchange for avoiding criminal charges.

The family of Jdimytai Damour, 34, a temporary worker at Wal-Mart who was trampled by a horde of frenzied shoppers on Black Friday, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against both Wal-Mart and the Valley Stream mall where the store is located.

Early figures for Black Friday show that consumers were up shopping the deep discounts retailers had to offer this year. ShopperTrak RCT Corp., a Chicago-based research firm that tracks sales at more than 50,000 retail outlets say consumers spent almost 3% more than they did one year ago.

Yesterday, at 5:03 AM in Valley Stream, NY, frenzied shoppers trampled a Wal-Mart employee Jdimytai Damour to death in an attempt to get to Black Friday bargains. Police are now hoping security footage will lead them to the guilty parties.

As if we had not enough tragedy on this Black Friday here comes another one from a Toys 'R' Us store in Palm Desert, California. Toys 'R' Us shooting in the store has left two people dead.

Black Friday shamefully made a black mark on the retail store as a Walmart worker is trampled to death by shoppers who smashed through the doors this morning cause a Walmart death. Another woman miscarried in the stampede. The Walmart employee was trampled and killed in a Lon Island, New York Wal-Mart store.

Black Friday is in its full swing as holiday shoppers rush Apple Store, Staples, Walmart.com, Best buy and other online and offline retailers to get the early and best Black Friday deals on technology and other goods.

Retailers and the mainstream media are hoping that U.S. consumers shop, starting this Black Friday, until you drop this holiday season to get them in the black after a dismal year in consumer spending.

This just shows how things have changed. In the past we'd be salivating over Dell deals, or HP deals, but now it's Mac deals that grab people's attention. Both MacMall and Best Buy are starting their "Black Friday" sales early.
