New Gallery Of Botanical Art Opens At Kew

The Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art at Kew Gardens, opening in spring 2008, will be the first gallery in the world dedicated to botanical art and open to the public all year round. The gallery, designed by award-winning architects Walters and Cohen, will exhibit precious works of art from the collections of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Dr Shirley Sherwood, many of which have never been on public display before.

Spring Colour To Melt Away Winter Blues

Kew Botanical Gardens is leaping into 2008 with the biggest display of spring flowers in the country. Over 5 million flowering bulbs will melt away the winter and carpet the beautiful open spaces of Kew with a riot of colour. Two million blue, white and mauve crocuses (Crocus vernus) will greet visitors as they enter the grand Victoria Gate entrance of the Gardens.

Sukkah Celebrates Harvest Holiday At Chicago Botanic Garden

In honor of the Jewish harvest holiday Sukkot, the Chicago North Shore Section of the National Council of Jewish Women will display their annual sukkah display at the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Botanic Garden from Saturday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 7. Families are invited to take part in arts and crafts activities to decorate the sukkah from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Rare Maps At Chicago Botanic Garden
