The new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V sports car has the same body panels as early models; but this is about all that the new Cadillac shares with its older brother.

The all-new CTS-V ‘supersaloon’ – the most powerful Cadillac ever – is available from February 2009.

General Motors' passenger car venture in China is recalling 209 MY2009 Cadillac CTS vehicles in the country to fix potential problems with airbags, China's quality supervision body, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said late on Friday.

The all-new 2009 Cadillac CTS luxury saloon arrives in UK showrooms from 1 September 2008. With a dramatic coupe-like profile, the new right-hand-drive CTS has a lavish specification as standard. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. An advanced 2.9 litre V6 diesel engine will join the new CTS line-up in 2009.

The all-new 2009 right-hand drive Cadillac CTS sport saloon, which makes its public debut at the British International Motorshow, goes on sale at Cadillac retailers from September 1 priced at £26,995 for the 211PS 2.8-litre V6 VVT model and £32,995 for the 311PS 3.6-litre VVT direct injection V6.
