General Motors sold a record 2.38 million cars and trucks around the world in the third quarter of 2007, a 4 percent increase compared with last year, according to preliminary sales figures released today. GM also reported record sales outside the United States, marking the 21st consecutive quarter of year-over-year sales increases outside the U.S.

General Motors Latin America, Africa & Middle East (GM LAAM) region set an all-time quarterly sales record in Q3 2007, selling over 329,000 vehicles, up 59,000 units over the same period last year. In addition, GM’s quarterly market share in the region increased to 17.5 percent, representing the best Q3 share since 1997.

Ford Motor Company in China continued its fast growing momentum, posting another record retail sales result for the first 3 quarters of 2007, with 149,455 vehicles sold (under Ford, Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover brands) and 30% growth over the volume of same period in 2006. This vigorous growth which outpaced the industry average shows increasing customer satisfaction with Ford vehicles.

India sees the decline of car sales. The rise in prises accounts 13 percent in the April-September period, compared with 23 percent growth in the same period last year.

AUDI AG sold around 741,300 vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of the year – an increase of 8.3 percent (September: 84,700; up 1.8 percent).

Land Rover has achieved yet another record – with the most successful sales month in its entire history. In September, the company sold nearly 26,000 cars around the world – 34% up on September last year and the best performance in 714 months of business.

Renault Ireland will become a subsidiary of the Renault Group for the distribution of its vehicles and spare-parts, and the provision of after sales services in Ireland from November 1 2007, subject to the authorities’ agreement.

GM dealers in the United States delivered 337,640 vehicles in September, up 4 percent compared with a year ago. The company's 255,274 retail deliveries were up more than 7 percent.

Sales of Ford’s all-new and redesigned crossovers spiked 96 percent in September; year-to-date sales were up 52 percent. Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX post highest retail sales to date.

General Motors reached a landmark today with the sale of the 12-millionth GM remarketed vehicle at auction. The vehicle, a 2007 Buick LaCrosse, was sold today at a special sales event at the Flint Auto Auction in Flint, Mich., to Patsy Lou Buick GMC of Flint, Michigan. Today's GM Sponsored Auctions closed sale included 425 GM used vehicles.
