Oprah Winfrey has topped a new survey to find the most generous celebrity philanthropists, donating more than $US50 million of her fortune to charity last year. Los Angeles-based The Giving Back Fund, a group set up to encourage and advise on celebrity philanthropy, says the 53-year-old talk show queen gave $US58.3 million to her own charities and other groups.

At 70*7 their mantra is "Creativity with a Heart for Giving." It's also their business model.

President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, thanked "American Idol" viewers for helping raise $70 million (EURO 51.45 million) during last week's charity special, "Idol Gives Back." The money will help impoverished children living in the United States and Africa.
