Stephen Curry Helps Davidson College Becoming A New Cinderella

The number 10 seed in the Midwest Region Davidson (27-6) defeated number 7 seeded Gonzaga 82 to 76. Gonzaga has gone from being a Cinderella team in past NCAA Tournaments to being a power in Division I basketball to now being the conquest of a new Cinderella team the Davidson Wildcats. Davidson got into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southern Conference Tournament.

Xavier University Women's Basketball Earns No. 9 in 2008 NCAA Tournament

The Xavier University women's basketball team will be making its second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament as the Musketeers earned a No. 9 seed in the Spokane Regional. The Musketeers, who will play No. 8 Nebraska (20-11, 9-7 Big 12) on Sunday, March 23, earned the Atlantic 10 Championship title after defeating Temple last Monday night and garnered the league's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. XU is currently 24-8 overall and finished 11-3 in conference play.

The Coppin State men's basketball team begins play in the NCAA Tournament tonight, March 18th, when they face off against the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in the Opening Round game in Dayton, Ohio. Tip-off for the game is set for 7:30 p.m.

Campus today is even quieter. Many of my colleagues are at the ACC Tournament to watch our Deacs. They lost to FSU 70-60 today. I know this is not the way anyone wanted our season to end, particularly after the heartbreak of losing Skip Prosser in July. But our team will bounce back, and so will we.

VMI junior Chavis Holmes (Charlotte, N.C.) and UNC Asheville junior Kenny George (Chicago, Ill.) have been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for games played from Jan. 1-6, while VMI guard Austin Kenon (Virginia Beach, Va.) has been selected as the New Balance Freshman of the Week for the same span, it was announced today by the League office.
