The much awaited return of the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert is now over. In late August, Cathy Rich, daughter of the late, legendary drummer Buddy Rich, confirmed plans for the Buddy Rich Memorial and that it would take place at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on October 18. Her company, Scabeba Entertainment, Drucker Labs and drumming icon Neil Peart will produce this historic event, which promises to be the most intense and compelling ever in terms of the performers and sponsors.

The tenth anniversary season of KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl continues on Sunday, June 29, at 7pm, with a compelling and rare double bill featuring Gilberto Gil and Devendra Banhart, who share the stage for the very first time. The Album Leaf featuring Mike Heron from The Incredible String Band opens the show. KCRW DJ Anne Litt hosts.

Sebastian Sidi, the popular Uruguay-born American musician and composer credited with defining a new music genre that can be described as classical, new age rock with a touch of Latin flavor, will present “Sebastian Sidi: Live in Concert” at the OC Pavilion Performing Arts Theatre on Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m.

American classical pianist Martin Berkofsky has impressed music critics around the world with his firebrand virtuosity. But 25 years ago, he stopped playing for critics and began performing for charitable causes.

Seattle Symphony Associate Conductor Carolyn Kuan will lead the Seattle Symphony and young violinist Marié Rossano in From Soccer to the Symphony, the first Discover Music! series concert of the season. The program will include works by Barber, Beethoven, Borodin, Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Sousa and Tchaikovsky.

Kyoko Takezawa will join Gerard Schwarz and Seattle Symphony for performances of Bartók's First Violin Concerto on Thursday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 5, at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, October 6, at 8 p.m. The program will also include Stravinsky's Suite from Pulcinella and
Schumann's Symphony No. 2 in C major.
