A massive new crib recall is expected to be announced today by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. This follows a series of prior recalls by the CPSC, but this has a major difference: the CPSC is reportedly considering a ban on all cribs with drop-down sides.

On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of another 400,000 Simplicity Drop Side Cribs because the "crib’s plastic hardware can break or deform, causing the drop side to detach." Wonderful. This 2009 recall follows other recalls of 1 million Simplicity cribs in 2007 and 2008.

On Thursday, the he U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) and Jardine Enterprises, of Taipei, Taiwan announced a voluntary expansion of a previous recall of Jardine cribs.
